Tempered By Trials
Sermon # 5
Elijah:
God is God Even of the Silence
We have been doing a series of character studies entitled Tempered by Trials, in which we have not tried to look at every little detail in their lives. We have specifically looked at the way the problems and trials they faced in life shaped them to the men and women they became. The trials and the problems, the troubles they faced made them into the people they became. Trials may not be pleasant but they are necessary tools that God uses to forge our characters.
Elijah reminds us that we may find
ourselves in situations where we feel that we alone have remained faithful to the Lord.
Should this happen, we are to be bold and speak up for Him as Elijah did.
Elijah reminds us that when we feel weakest
God may be the closest to us, ready to whisper to us in a still, small voice.
Elijah reminds us that God is never
critical of our human limitations. God understands us, and cares. He knows how to provide
what we need to go on with life.
Elijah reminds us that we need Gods perspective always. However alone we may feel, many others love God equally and share our experiences.
Elijah reminds us that we, too, need the companionship of like-minded believers. Today, you and I can find this companionship with others in the church, the body of Christ. Lets seek fellowship there, that we might offer and receive support. [Every Man in the Bible.]
